Microwave-assisted synthesis of nanoscale VO2 structures

Nanoscaled VO2 structures were made using a fast microwave-assisted synthesis method in acetophenone as solvent, starting from vanadium pentoxide V2O5. Insights the reaction and purification process elaborated by attenuated total reflection infrared nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which validated choice of oleyl amine ligand solvent. A straightforward heat treatment inert atmosphere was used to convert mixture VOx (M) VOOH phases thermochromically active monoclinic nanomaterials. This conversion monitored via in-situ X-ray diffraction gave insight influence ethanol tert-butyl hydroperoxide on crystal structure morphology, bright-field transmission electron microscopy. The thermochromic switching investigated with differential scanning calorimetry showing latent up 43.34 J/g.
